Rap superstar and music icon Eminem is giving his fans a glimpse into what he’s been up to lately with the release of a new song, titled “Survival”. The track, which will be included on Eminem’s upcoming album, is featured in Activision’s blockbuster “Call of Duty: Ghosts”, (see trailer below) the highly-anticipated, all-new entry in the Call of Duty franchise that’s had over 100 million players. An announcement regarding the new album and its first single is expected soon. In the meantime, fans who have been waiting patiently for new Eminem music can hear the song in its entirety at Eminem’s website, www.eminem.com.
“Survival” premiered earlier today at the world premiere of “Call Of Duty: Ghosts” in a live, multiplayer event spectacular broadcast worldwide. The song was scored to the debut trailer featuring the first glimpse of the game’s wildly popular multiplayer mode. Following that, Eminem made a video appearance sharing with viewers news that a forthcoming video of “Survival”, including “Call of Duty: Ghosts” is in the works.
“Survival” will be featured both in the game, scheduled for release starting November 5th, and the marketing campaign, which will hit media in the fall.
Eminem’s upcoming album will be his seventh release for Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope. It follows 2010’s Recovery, which sold over 7.2 million copies and spawned the worldwide hits “Not Afraid” and “Love The Way You Lie”. Eminem has sold over 80 million albums worldwide.
The concert originally aired uncut on Nico Nico Douga last year. Over 27,000 international viewers tuned in to watch Japanese visual kei band exist†trace’s live-show event “Just Like a Virgin” from Tokyo’s renowned live house Shibuya O-WEST. Fans broadcast 16,000+ comments in support of the band, including many comments reporting the local time in their countries.
exist†trace just released their latest single “DIAMOND” in July 2013, following their live concert at A-Kon 2013 in Dallas, TX, in June 2013.
This is an oldie but the cinematography in this video is simply gorgeous and stands the test of time.
The song is “Aitakute Ima” (lit. “Missing You Now”). It was released on November 18, 2009 as the fourth single from Misia’s ninth studio album Just Ballade.
Misia came to prominence following the release of her debut album, Mother Father Brother Sister (1998), which became the seventh best-selling Japanese debut album of all time, earning her two Japan Gold Disc Awards and one Japan Record Award.
Misia has released 10 studio albums and is among the all-time best-selling Japanese music artists, having sold more than 30 million records. She is one of the top-touring artists in Japan, becoming the first female artist to play all five of Japan’s largest stadiums in 2004. Misia is famed for her five-octave vocal range and is widely recognized as the first Japanese R&B superstar.
(And breathe)
Here are the English lyrics to the song:
Do you remember the day we first met? I haven’t forgotten a single day that’s passed I want to feel everything you had your eyes on I looked up at the sky, are you there now watching over me? Tell me…
I’m missing you now There’s so much I want to tell you Oh, I miss you, I miss you I sadly long for your presence Where are you? Hold me I’ll always be here
If I knew that we’d never see each other again I would never have let go of your hand If I had just cried and told you, “Stay with me” Would you still be here, smiling beside me?
I’m missing you now There’s so much I want you to hear Oh, I miss you, I miss you Tears flow as time just passes me by Oh, I miss you, hold me close I’ll always be thinking of you
Even if my destiny won’t change, I have something to tell you “I want to go back…” to that day, that time, this one wish is all I need
I’m missing you now There’s so much I want you to know Oh, I miss you, I miss you All I could do was wish it was all a dream This heart of mine is still crying I’ll always be thinking of you
Every so often when we get into one of those rainy day kind of moods we like to watch this video from Japanese rock duo Chage & Aska’s 1994 hit “On Your Mark” . The video is animated by one of our favorite (probably most people’s favorite ) Japanese animators Hayao Miyazaki.
The video was inspired partly by theChernobyl accidentof 1986, in which a damaged reactor had to be covered with concrete and the surrounding area evacuated. The two men are meant to look like the singers Chage and Aska themselves. One of the men (wearing a naval cap) is depicted as brave and caring, while the other (wearing a helmet and dark goggles; apparently Chage as implied by the text on his coffee mug) is depicted as being somewhat goofy, but warm-hearted.
We love it. Its a masterpiece as far as we are concerned.
The winged girl resembles a princess from another Miyazaki film, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. The theme of the film is notable in that Princess Nausicaä studies and takes samples from the Toxic Jungle, a lethal forest contaminated and mutated after the apocalyptic “Seven Days of Fire.”
In translating any language into another there is always something lost in translation. I’m sure in translating Japanese into English a lot is lost in translation. But for what its worth here are the lyrics in English:
And we, with our usual smiling faces Wiped off the dust that covered our clothing
If our hands let go, it wouldn’t make a sound A coin keeps falling, never to return again
You and I beside each other Pass by the dawn on our bicycles
On your mark, every time. Then you start running. I catch the cold that’s spreading around
On your mark, yet we’ll never stop We look up at the hill of dreams, feeling like we must go
And we, have small empty spaces in our hearts Together we shake off a rain shower of words
An answer isn’t given, though it seems an answer was given Like reading a clock’s symbols with invisible hands
You and I entirely Recognize that we are still too young
On your mark, every time. Then you start running. I catch the cold that’s spreading around
On your mark, we cannot be free Towards the heart of a dream, we are called to each other
And we..
On your mark, every time. Then you start running. I catch the cold that’s spreading around
On your mark, yet we’ll never stop We look up at the hill of dreams, feeling like we must go
On your mark, every time. Then you start running. I catch the cold that’s spreading around
On your mark, we cannot be free Towards the heart of a dream, we are called to each other
